On the Generalization of Newton's Experimentum Crucis
How would Goethe have experimented today? – Within the framework
of the workshop new experimental results will be presented. These
arise when one asks as to the presentability of the epistemological
and experimental ideas of Goethe with means of modern optics. The
optical conditions will be shown under which complementary-colored
spectra may simultaneously be realized and, using this assumption,
how an inverted form of Newton's Experimentum Crucis becomes possible. It is the aim of the workshop to study these experiments in detail and to ask about their physical, historical and epistemological significance.
